It could be putting in a better smile on one person in a group photo, it could be erasing someone walking by a building, or any number of other things – it's all about making the best impression and showing your audience exactly what they need to see.

Edits: remove 3 people from centre of photograph; separate left 5 people from waist up, removing background; rebuild portion of blouse that was previously hidden (5th from left); fix angle of skyline in background; remove truck from behind person on far right; make grass more consistent and remove debris; rebuild clean background; composite all elements into a single image
